Join Tufts University Art Galleries Wednesday for a live Zoom talk with Risa Puleo, Curator of Walls Turned Sideways: Artists Confront the Justice System and participating artists, Sarah Ross and Damon Locks, on ongoing campaigns for prisoner release in the wake of Covid-19.
Inmate advocates and civil rights organizations have demanded the early release of prisoners, as well as people currently in pretrial detention, to prevent a public health crisis. Risa, Sarah, and Damon will reflect on how their own communities are responding and how artists and cultural workers contribute to these efforts. Co-sponsored by the Petey Greene Program. Zoom information will be sent following Eventbrite RSVP.

Students in the Food as Sculpture since 1960 course (VMS/ENVS) created placemats and videos to share tips on how to keep healthy eating habits during the pandemic. Their work was inspired by food-based art projects that incorporate a range of ingredients. The students collaborated with scientists at the Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University and the Greater Boston Chinese Golden Age Center to provide advice tailored to elderly residents in Boston’s Chinatown—a community that is particularly vulnerable to the Coronavirus. In order to allow the Cantonese-speaking public to make the most out of viewing the placemats and videos, we are looking for one or more bilingual students who can:
- Translate the contents of the placemats;
- Lay out the translation into the placemats, while ensuring the integrity of the existing design in Power Point or Keynote;
- Record a voiceover translation, for ten 3-minute videos, from English to Cantonese (or possibly Mandarin).
The course is co-sponsored by and in collaboration with Tisch College. We can offer 15$/hour, with an expected time commitment of 10 hrs.
If you are interested, respond to firstname.lastname@example.org by May 9th. The position will remain open until filled.
Senior Thesis Program faculty Kendall Reiss, Ria Brodell, and Post Graduate Teaching Fellow Willoughby Lucas Hastings held a virtual information session on Wednesday, April 22. The info session was recorded and includes a program overview, FAQ's, as well as Q&A.

Eligible students are invited to apply to the 2020-2021 Senior Thesis Program.
Students accepted into the Senior Thesis Program participate in a year-long trajectory of research, writing, and art-making centered around critical dialogue with peers, faculty, visiting artists, and arts professionals. - You must be Review Board eligible each semester of Senior Thesis (i.e. are taking 7 or more studio credits per semester)

The Office of Community Standards is currently accepting applications for students to join the Committee on Student Conduct. The Committee on Student Conduct (CSC) is a standing committee of the faculty of Arts and Sciences and Engineering. The CSC is composed of students, faculty, and staff and operates according to the Student Conduct Resolution Procedure. The primary function of a member of the Committee on Student Conduct is to act as a hearing panelist. Hearing panels are created to resolve complaints of alleged violations of University policy by a student, former student, or a student organization. The process is objective and educational, not legalistic or adversarial. The hearing panels apply Tufts' policies and the University’s values to reach fair outcomes. A&S and SoE students, undergraduate and graduate, and all affiliated student organizations can be referred for alleged violations of policy, including personal and academic misconduct. Sexual misconduct is handled through another process and is not the responsibility of the CSC.
If you are interested in joining the CSC, please review this document for information on the application process. Please submit all required materials to Lindsay Ferguson, Assistant Director of Community Standards, at Lindsay.email@example.com no later than Friday, May 1, 2020 at 5pm. Finalists will be invited to an interview.
Questions? Please direct those to Lindsay Ferguson at Lindsay.Ferguson@tufts.edu.
